The 6th Berks. had been in and out of the line at Carnoy and Maricourt for some time prior to the commencement of the Somme offensive. This map shows the Carnoy sector, where the battalion was to launch it's attack on 1st July. They were positioned opposite Casino Point and Mine Trench.
